Default Could overfilled oil be responsible???

I got my oil changed at an oil change shop and had them put in MobileOne 5w30. They said they knew how much to put in. Well....ever since the oil change my car has been shifting very sloppily and LATE (tiptronic). Yesterday I changed my spark plugs and noticed that they had oil on them in addition to being somewhat burned and that oil had apparently leaked past the piston rings. I then checked my oil level and i estimate that there is about 4.5-5 quarts of oil in there? What do you all suggest i do? Do you think it would be fine if i drained all the oil out and refilled it w/ 3.7-3.8 quarts which is what i think it's SUPPOSED to take?
