i have a 1999 audi a4 2.8L Quattro. Sometimes when i close my drivers side door, the interior light will stay on and the warning beeper beeps like crazy. It is rather annoying (the beeping) and also the interior lights on is annoying. I have noticed that it happens when it is hot outside, or that side of the car is in the sunlight. Sometimes i can try to close the door a couple times and it will shut off. i took the car door apart and lubed up the locking mechanism thinking that it was the problem (not sending a signal) but it hasnt worked. also when i use my remote lock, the car locks, but does not beep. im pretty sure it is because the interior light is on.
Has anyone else had this problem?
first places to look?

This is the sensor that will tell the car whether the door is shut or not. It has nothing to do with the lock cylinder assembly which (I am assuming) is what you mean when you say locking mechanism.
STFA or look at the tech articles for the part #'s and how to replace, I am positive they will be in there somewhere.
Also, in the future, when you need to identify your car to us including the model year. The car in the picture (I am assuming thats yours and you do not plan on posting it all the time) is a 1999.5. The are some significant differences between that and a normal 1999 that could cause you some confusion when asking for help. Check the FAQ (no I will not link it, lazy, its at the top of the page) for model year differences.

It is commonly referred to as a 1999.5 because halfway through the year Audi made alot of changes to the car. There is a way to know from the VIN, but I don't know exactly where the split is, let me see if I can find it for you.
