Default no, since oil pans seems to come pre-cracked. I couldn't believe the poor quality while helping

PaJohn replace his after hitting some road debris in his S4.

It's just a bunch of bolts and big mess.

Default yes. I picked up some stuff at an autozone to get me through a weekend

and until my new pan came in. I had a good sized crack in mine that dripped every second and produced a decent sized puddle after an hour.
I was thinking of removing it and using JB weld but I found some stuff that is in a plastic tube. It is grey putty with darker gray putty in the center.
You break off a chunk and mix it in your hand until it heats up.
I stuck some over the crack (even with oil dripping) and it hardened within a minute. This was a temporary fix but is still lasting for almost 1.5 years. I wish I knew the name of it.

Default oh yeah, 2.8 oil pan replacements are not labor intensive... about 1/2 hour and 20

easily accessible bolts. Just remember to torque them to specs
