Cracked windshield just above the hood, no chance of fixing?

Cracked windshield just above the hood, no chance of fixing?
The tiny little hairline went up, made a left turn and is spreading, naturally. The problem is that it's just below the dash, so no way to get at it from both sides without removing the whole glass.
Is this something that can be fixed easily?

no free auto glass with insurance?
if theres a crack, just tell the Ins Co its however long they wanna hear, itll get cracked more than that long when theyre takin it out...
i had a crack on the very bottom of the glass, covered by the hood, had it replaced the next week as it spidered out pretty fast.
