Cross drilled vs. Slotted Rotors (anyone want to help dispell any myths?)

Really? I don't think this little weight matters all that much. The weight saved there is so little and its distance from the center of the wheel does not make sense. In energy terms, the tangential velocity is about 1/2 that of the car's velocity (11.2" vs OD of tire). If you were to shed the same weight from the body of the car (empty the ashtray, you would see about twice the difference from the drilling improvement.

60-85% of your break force goes to the front wheels, so I am going to get slotted A8
replacement rotors (front only) from APR, and
use a kit from Claire to keep my calipers.
I'll probably also replace all the pads while
I'm at it. Cross drilled tend to be more
prone to cracking (NOT PORSCHE ROTORS, as they
are NOT DRILLED, but manufactured with the
holes already in them). Altogether this
should run around $425...I'll let you know how
it goes in a month or so.
