Sounds like a job for a proctologist not a mechanic!

*Ba-da-bing*

Har har har..........

OK, OK, it's a '98 A4 2.8M sedan with waaaaaaaay over 200K miles. The rear diff is leaking, been weeping for a while and I warned them it needed to be resealed but they are limping the car along a bit due to the age - but anyway. It now is leaking rapidly leaking and there is a fair bit of bearing play at the outputs.

Point of my post is that I know at one point recently someone here had a rear diff. sitting in their shop or the basement? Whoever you are - do you still have it?

I have never looked into it if it's possible to rebuild the one in it with new bearings etc. Maybe that's a better way.

I have never pulled the rear out of a B5 - I need to see what I'm up against. ;-(

So anyone have an extra *** end you could throw my way?

Default You planning on going in there bare-fisted?

I'd be tempted to wear gloves . . . but maybe that would lessen some of the "soft touch" that bare skin allows.

Default a comment....

Have you checked car-part.com for anything local? There have got to be alot of low mile crashed B5's out there.

Default It's good. Love to sell it. Email me and we can work it out.

Maine, right? I'll be as far north as Littleton, NH next weekend for the NAAC WDS II.

Default Not sure if Pure Hatred still has his , maybe e-mail him if he doesn't chime in here.

I can try and get him at work if you don't get an answer. You can start a collection of rebuilt ones.
