Test your ICM like this:
I went through this literally a week ago... go with the HUCO model, much cheaper, same thing (possibly better). I got mine through worldimpex.com, although i do believe some sites may have it for cheaper.

Re: HUCO replacement ignition control unit
I just went through this 2 months ago... Tested my ignition control unit as per directions found here and it showed the circuit for cylinder #2 to be dead... Ordered a HUCO replacement, installed it and car runs fine... I tried the whole swapping coils and plugs deal without any change in the codes. So far HUCO unit works great and for $105 it is hard to beat.

Anyone know if I can use a 8D0 905 351 instead of the original 4D0 905 351? My local Audi dealer sent me the wrong one by mistake but the correct one is twice the price!! If I can fit the 8D0... part then I'd like to do so.
