Not necessarily, there's a Audi TSB about it,
Remember that compression can be changed by thousands of an Inch,
An industrial Fuel System Cleaner such as BG44k used with a fuel system cleaning machine should do it (They tap into the fuel system and pump it through)
Check with your local Euro shop they should be able to tell you where and how much
