So I tried tweezers, pliers, letter opener and I finally just pulled the cord out of the ipod tape adapter and it's still stuck in there. Going to borrow a friend's factory keys to remove the unit and attempt a removal from the top. Does anyone know if the Concert HU has an Aux/in on the back?
Thanks,
T

The only reason this became an issue is that the cord was stuck under the seat and I yanked it, breaking the cord. Spliced it back together but had static after that...grrrrrr

See that block labelled 'CD', AF-L and AF-R are line-level audio inputs for the CD changer. Only problem is, the head unit won't switch to them unless it senses a CD changer with a disc in it.
If you have a CD changer, you can splice the wiring by the connector and tap into those inputs (the CD changer can still be used if you add some sort of switching scheme).

How I did it

I got far enough to determine which lines needed to be switched but never made it to a final product. IIRC three lines needed to be switch so you would need a relay that is the equivalent of a nine pin double throw switch. But my radio began crapping out at that point and I couldn't justify buying a third OEM radio so I just went aftermarket. It looks like you got a relay working, so your EE skills must be better than mine. Nice work on the cupholder, BTW.

The ground can be shared between the changer and iPOD, so you just need a DPDT relay to switch the left and right audio lines.
As for my EE skills, I guess that BS EE degree comes in handy once in a while. ;-)
