paintjob on the door. The scratch is only about 3in long, sine wave shape. I was thinking of using touchup paint. Its located on the driverside rear door just a few inches from the front door so I get to look at it EVERY time I get into the car.
Fortunately for me the fun in driving this car is much more important than just looking at it so I'm not totally crushed. If Silver is faster, is scratched silver faster yet??

At some places, its gone to the metal. I have coverred it with touch up paint and then plished, glazed and waxed my car! But touch up paint leaves a blob of paint all along the scratch. How do we get it flush with the paint work?

There's no Magic Paint that they have only at the factory. A good paint shop can do just as good a job. In fact, I've heard that some paint shop places are better since they can still use acrylics, while factories have to use water-based paints now to reduce pollution. I've had a section of my car repainted, and it worked out fine. In fact, the shop's finish is smoother since it was done by hand.

The people at Langka tell me, however, that metallic paints are especially hard to fix with touch up paint. The metal flakes like to fall a certain way when sprayed on, and they just don't fall the same way when they're brushed on or otherwise applied in "blob" form. So the reflection of light by the flakes can't be matched to the factory paint, and the touch up typically ends up looking darker. At least this is what I'm told. Langka supposedly will remove the blob and smooth it all out, but it can't do anything about the metal flake/reflection of light issue. I don't have my Langka yet, so I probably won't be doing the touch-up/Langka process for another week or so. But I'll post a report once I do.<p>Rick
