Damn, got speeding ticket... 17 over... what to do???

Damn, got speeding ticket... 17 over... what to do???
Pretty much 2 choices...
1) Plead guilty, pay $105, and go to traffic school.
2) Plead not guilty, go to court and hope the judge is in a good mood...
The cop that cought me seemed very nice (if that's not an oxymoron...
) and suggested that I just go to court and get supervision for 6 months. That's because my driving record is almost spotless - 1 ticket (4 years ago) in 10 years of driving.
BTW, he caught me doing 42 in 25, which in reality was 20 and a school zone, but he was "nice" enough to leave that minor detail off the ticket.

I'd say take the driving school...
don't want to go to court and have the fact that it was in a school zone come up. Chances are, when the judge hears it was in a school zone you will lose.
Cops tend to do "favors" like that to try to keep people from going to court (ie, knocking 5mph off your speed). In your case I would take the favor.

the cop doesn't really have to prove it....
he tells the judge and the judge believes him. That's usually how it works in traffic court. But, it's your time and money, so do whatever you want.

In that case, why didn't the cop note that fact on the ticket?
Besides, the cop really seamed "nice"
He even said my birthday matched his and that he was sorry for having to give me the ticket
