Is there anybody who has had a radar detector installed in the car? I don't want one that has the wire hanging down or has to be mounted on the windshield with suction cups. <br>

Interestingly, when I ordered my A4 Avant, the dealer asked if I would like to have the dealer-installed radar/laser system installed. It is comprised of a front radar/laser unit that mounts behind the front grill, and a rear radar/laser unit that mount somewhere under the rear bumper. This gives you 360 degree protection, stealth install and a visual display that mounts on the console. I think the dealer said it was made by K40 since he quoted their "we'll pay for your ticket for a year if caught" slogan. It also included laser jamming at the front. When I inquired about the price, the dealer quoted me $1400. I decided to pass and live with my wonderful, yet a little in the way Valentine 1. It is certainly the best on the market. Can't tell you how many tickets I've avoided!

In general, most folks find that the Valentine One detector is the best on the market.<p>The automotive press tends to agree, K40's claims notwithstanding. I'd be hard pressed to suggest you do anything else. <p>
