Well, after 7.5 months, finally picked up our '99.5 A4 2.8 Avant QMS. It's just great.<p>One thing I found curious. When I was looking at '98s and '99s, it seemed that the dashboard wood trim in the Onyx interior was a matte finish. When we picked up our '99.5, the wood trim was high gloss.<p>I think I preferred the non-gloss finish better -- more understated.<p>Is this something that changed with the Onyx interior since '98?<p>--Jim--<br>

Jim,<p>There are three types of wood available on the 2.8s, the shiny maple burl wood comes with the Ambition Atmosphere I think, the other two are a matte open-pore (Advance)and a lighter color wood that comes with the Ambiente. The shiny wood is the traditional Audi look, pre-Atmospheres. Congrats on your new car, I am taking delivery of my 99.5 Avant 2.8 qmss this week hopefully. I ordered on May 6th, so I have only waited for 3 months. Sounds like all the 2.8 Avants were built at the same time. Enjoy your new car.<p>Mike
