This morning I took my car in for it's after break in oil change. The dealer (Hawthorne, VA) found that the dealer I bought my car from (Pegasus, VA) forgot to remove some kind of factory protector/boots on the shock tower. What this was causing was an extra stiff feel on my suspension. I always thought it was my sports package. I never thought to check the shock towers.. it was not too noticeable...
I just thought it was worth mentioning...
Dimitri
====
99.5 1.8TQMS

Took it in for service about a year later. Found out the factory apparently forgot to undercoat the tub (they did that back then) before installing the suspension, exhaust, fuel tank, etc. so the idiots did it afterwards which coated essential components like the fuel tank breather with a thick tar-like substance. Could have sent all of us to an early grave.

The dealer is supposed to remove shipping spacers during Pre-Delivery Inspection. This may lead to a noisy front suspension (clunking or rattling). I suppose this is common enough of a problem for Audi to have released a Technical Bulletin on it (see link).
Wayne
99 1.8TQMS

Front Suspension Noisy Technical Bulletin
