Hi All,
I have a 2000 A4 2.8QMSX. I was investigating a strange creaking noise coming from my front end when going over speed bumps... turns out my dealer (Heishman in Arlington, VA) neglected to remove the front suspension shipping spacers. One of the spacers is wedged between my front right spring, with an obvious wear mark where the spring has been hitting it.
I now realize I should have checked out the problem sooner
. I have 6000 miles on my car and I'm wondering if there could be any long term suspension damage caused by the spacers? Perhaps some damage due to weird stress on the spring or uneven wear? The other three spacers are still installed, but they've not come loose.
Thanks for any information... I'm going to go demand my PDI fees back tomorrow.
Andrew

Shouldn't be too big a deal. I strongly dought there is any damage, I'd just go back to the dealer and have them fix it. let them know that your not impressed with the PDI, but be "cool" make a friend, you don't want to make any enemies, especially this early in the game. You want to build a posative relationsipwith your dealer, you never know when you'll NEED them and their cooperation.
You might throw into your conversation "Hey, could you recode my remote key funtions while you have the car in the shop to remove the spacers?" Then give them the list you copied from the archives and tell them what code you want.
BTW, the archives say Engine Control Unit recoding, it should be Central Locking Control Unit Address Word: #35, recode Cont unit: funtion #7. Add that info to your copy. The funtion list is NOT in any Audi literature.
