Default Dealer says my car's air-fuel mixture is too lean... help!

My check engine light came on a little while ago. I brought my car to the dealer (Danbury Audi in CT). After fooling with the car for 2 days they asked me if I have a chip in it because their having a hard time finding the problem. I told them that I do have a chip (APR v3) in the car. They said the car's air-fuel mixture is running lean which is causing the check engine light to come on because it is out of spec. Has anyone had this problem with/without an APR chip? Any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Default Can't see how....

APR likes to run their mixtures a bit rich, not lean. Maybe you have an intake or vac line leak.

Default Well...

I don't get the engine check light. However, when Dan from Turbo5 hooked up the VAG tool to my car, he noticed that my car was running very lean. He didn't know if APR programs it that way or if there's something wrong with the car.

I had him hook up the VAG tool because my car doesn't seem to be getting the full boost in the mid-range. Are you having a boost problem?

Default There was a vacuum leak...

which they fixed but that didn't resolve the check engine light problem.

Default Yeah I think I'm running a tad rich judging by the soot in the tailpipes..

No V.A.G. tool but I'm chipped (apr v3).

I just put on a new exaust and my pipes are already black! Perhaps driving styles may have something to with it?

Default It seemed like the car wasn't performing as well as before..

but I just figuered that was me already used to the chip. You know how that goes.

Default Mass Air Sensor...

It determined how much air to put into the system... if it isnt reading correctly then it could let too much air/o2 into the system and it would run lean. I severly doubt that it is the chip programming. The fuel map works perfectly for COUNTLESS number of people

Default do you have a spare ECU? if not recommend the dealer toss in a spare ECU

and see if the car still runs lean... My money is on the sensor though, and the car will still run lean
