Dealer says that my chip caused my coil pack failure!

The Engine will only run hotter if the cooling system fails. Coil pack does not produce . . .
any significant heat compared to the engine itself.
Thus, I cannot see how the coil pack will cause engine over heating which in turn melts the coil packs internals.
Assuming you meant to say the ECU causes the engine to run hotter, again, the cooling system should keep the engine within specifications. Our cars have an overbuilt cooling system. Given a properly functioning cooling system, the ECU will not cause any over heating. Our A4's cooling system should keep any chipped engine within specification since it does a wonderful job even on the 300+ hp upgrades that some individuals have installed.

This is one of the reasons why I think Audi is so against tuning.
Tuning obviously creates a higher stress on numerous parts. This will cause marginal parts to fail before the calculated time. When most things are designed, there is a trade off between cost and longevity. Tuning causes more parts to fail before warranty periods are up. These parts would have failed anyway, just later on.
