Whatever the car came with, I use. I get a nice discount on G11 coolant for the older Audi's, so I use that.
Why? It came with the car for a reason, it serves its purpose quite well. If all of the cooling system is up to snuff that coolant should and will be just fine.
Now, if I were going with a track only vehicle I would explore other fluids of course, including coolant.

plus a lot of reference materials were leaning strongly toward G-05 as are oems like BMW, Ford, Chrysler, MB, John Deere and apparently VW's G-12+ is likely a Hybrid with light silicates too. I'm not saying change or anything, I just question the logic that VW can do no wrong. It's best to look at all options. This will be a dead issue in very few years as my PEAK Global and likely Prestone All Makes meets MB (400?) specs.

Service life is 2 years on G-11.
All that talk of "whatever reasons it came in the car" and "it serves it's purpose well" is fluff...come on. Organic Acid coolants simply did not exist when your 4000 was made. Now that technology is available and is backwards compatible.
Why NOT use it? Why not use G-11? Two good reasons is silicate fallout and impeller wear....oh, but just like imawesome's post, since Audi put it in, it must be perfect in the present time. PEAK Global, "Lifetime Fill". MB specs, at any WalMart or auto store $8/g...and the problem is???
