Dial-UP Users!!!!! Beta-test v.92.... free hardware
If you are looking to participate in an upcoming Beta Test, you will need to meet the following requirements.
Mandatory Test criteria:
Have complete Internet Access including FTP, WWW, E-Mail, etc.
Be familiar with 3Com products.
Be willing to dedicate as much as 10-15 hours a week to the testing.
Be willing to report on a daily basis your progress with the test.
Be willing to complete forms, surveys, questionnaires.
Be willing to sign an Beta Test Agreement which includes a comprehensive Non-Disclosure Agreement.
You must have the items specified below in the Project Requirements.
3Com is looking for people to test the following products:
Project Description: V.92/V.44 Update to 3Com Combo PC Cards
Last Date to Apply: 2/6/2002
Region Testing: Domestic
Beta Test Overview:
V.92 support for 3C3FEM656 C, 3CXFEM656 C, CXSH654B or 3C3SH654B Ethernet+Modem products
V.44 compression

Project Requirements: Turbo Charge your Modem!
We are looking for beta testers to evaluate new V.92 modem software for owners of 3Com LAN + Modem PC Cards. The V.92 upgrade offers 30% to 40% higher throughput with the new compression standard (V.44), quicker connection times, and the Modem on Hold ability (where you can pause the Internet connection on an incoming or outgoing call for a short period of time, then resume it when
you are done talking).
Beta testers who have a 3C3FEM656C, 3CXFEM656C, CXSH654B or 3C3SH654B Ethernet + Modem combo card will be selected.
Testers who are able to participate in this test will receive a $20 gift certificate to Amazon.com to help compensate for the long distance costs associated with this test (you will need to connect to some V.92 enabled numbers that will be a long distance call for most beta sites). You will also receive a free copy of the Modem on Hold application that normally requires an additional purchase.
Finally, the top 2 testers (most active testers with the most valid issues reported,that also give us frequent updates) will receive a choice of the following products: an 802.11b Wireless PC Card adapter, a USB Bluetooth Adapter or a PC Card Bluetooth Adapter. And by being an active contributing member, you will have other opportunities to test for 3Com Mobile Beta Test Services in the future.
Here are the additional requirements:
. A Windows based laptop running Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000 SP2, or Windows XP Professional
. Have access to a full line of communication software for modem communication, remote access and FAX abilities
. Have lines capable of connecting V.90 prior to beginning the test (for backward compatibility testing)
. Live in the U.S. or Canada, and able to make long distance calls to 3Com provided numbers for compatibility testing.
