Default did I buy the wrong gauge?

*Note, this is for a 2.7t, but since it seems that almost NO S4 owners have oil pressure gauges, I'm asking here. I'm pretty sure the theory for install should be the same regardless of the motor

Ok, so I'm installing a boost gauge and an oil pressure gauge. When I purchased them, I bought both of them Mechanical (didn't even think about it, just ordered them) When I got them, I started thinking about installation, and the following occurs to me. For a mechanical oil pressure gauge, wouldn't I have to bring an actual oil line to the gauge? (I'm thinking yes...)
My guess is I should have purchased an electrical gauge and run a wire to the oil pressure sensor near the oil filter. Anyone have any input on what I'd have to do to get my mech. gauge to work? Has anyone added an oil pressure gauge (doesn't seem like many if ANY have after doing a search)

any input appreciated
Rian

Default go to the 12v forum and look up UrS4

He is going to be installing one in his car after an issue with a sticking pressure valve (I think that's what it was) in his oil filter. Caused him to start burning a lotta oil. He swears by the mechanical ones cuz, like sightpost, he says if you're gonna do it, do it right. Don't glorify an idiot light basically =P

You do have to run an oil line into the car though... but if you install everything properly, you won't need to worry about anything.

Default care to back that claim up you are the first person to say every other tuner in the world says

the opposite. i say that is bull**** because the pressure has to travel further to get to the gauge then it would a sending unit sitting right on top of the bung its installed in... you cant have a zero pressure loss over a greater distance....
