Differences between Neuspeed Bilsteins and Bilstein's from Shox.com

Good afternoon,
I am considering purchasing a set of used Bilstein Sports from the AW classified's. They are the Bilsteins offered on Shox.com. The seller reports that the main diff. is that they do not have as many "grooves" cut as the Neuspeeds do, and that the piston is slightly longer than the Neuspeeds.
My question is this.
Has anyone had sufficient exposure to both of them to know the real advantages/disadvantages to either set. I plan on using Neuspeed Race springs, and am looking for around a 1.5-2 finger gap front/rear. Would the non Neuspeed shocks have the range of adjustment to provide this. BTW, this is on a 98.5 Quattro A4
Thank you very much in advance
