Default difficult to shift into reverse and 1st

i dont mean right after each other, and when shifting into reverse from idle, i hold the clutch in plenty of time to get it into the position for reverse

becomes easier as i start driving

would this be clutch fluid that needs replaced?

Default Try shifting into 2nd or 3rd first, see if that makes it easier..

it could be just that the transmission is moving too fast internally.. getting into the non syncromesh gears can be a hassle.. shifting into 2nd or 3rd helps to slow the innards down a little...

Default i do that after im driving, i mean hard to shift into 1st and R when im leaving my parking lot

and for the first 2 minutes of driving

i shift into first by letting it slide into first as it slows down, or i shift into second before i go into first. but the problems are more in the parking lot, and shifting into second doesnt help. and reverese, well theres no other gear to shift to first

Default May want to check the elbow joint on the shifter too...

I thought my synchros were going bad b/c it was EXTREMELY difficult to shift into ANY gear. Took out my Neuspeed short shifter and discovered the elbow joint at the bottom of the shifter was completely frozed. Took it all apart, lubricated it and the car has never shifted smoother.

Could also be your transmission fluid too - easy to change if you have the right tools. See the tech section for a write-up.

Default No, I mean, when you are stationary, before you try 1st, try 2nd, then 1st...

this will slow down the transmission internally.. Same for reverse. shift into 2nd, then reverse.

If the clutch was not disengaging fully, you'd have problems in all gears.

Default Just change it yourself. I wrote an article in the tech section to do it.

Easy as changing your oil.
