Direction of engine rotation?

Direction of engine rotation?
Quick question. I have an A4 1.8T and I am in the middle of a timing belt change. The instructions I have say to turn to TDC in the direction of engine rotation but now where does it say what direction that is. So what is it, clockwise or counterclockwise?

Taking that u have NOT removed the belt....
Get a socket and stick it in the Crank shaft pulley....
Then....as u standing in front of car facing the front of the engine....turn the crank shaft pulley clockwise.....(picture the crank pulley being a clock...u wanna turn it 1 o'clock 2 oclock 3 oclock.....etc) then at the same time keep an eye on the cam sproket until u line up the marks......
