Default I'm afraid you're being illogical here

The fact that people race in the dry on slicks only proves that any tread will decrease traction on dry pavement, not that unidirectional tread is better/worse/the same in the right/wrong direction than symmetrical tread.

Default But the tread in the dry won't have an effect unless the tire is sliding...

because nothing is moving through the tread except air, which I don't think will have a big effect on the tire's performance.
