Default I would think the Turbo'd vehicle will run more efficient, in terms.........

of gas mileage. But, many times that would'nt come into play unless it was a NASCAR event. (or the gumball rally 8-)

Well in that case,Why do you suppose FIA banned turbo's in Formula 1 racing?.

Default When did I ever say that? All I said was that when given a choice between a naturally aspirated...

12v 2.8 and a turbocharged 1.8t, the Stasis racing team went with the 12v. And when it came time to replace it, they went with the 30v - still naturally aspirated.

The 1.8t is a great engine, don't get me wrong, but in a racing/track application it just isn't the ideal platform. On the drag strip it's a completely different story...but that's not what we're talking about here.!

Default I don't know. And unless you know why, I wouldn't consider that to be relevant here. It could...

have been for any number of reasons.

But let's keep to the discussion at hand: turbocharged, small displacement engine vs. naturally aspirated, larger displacement engine in a track application.

Default well after just re-reading the original post...............

I could see, as the article states "in high horesepower engines" Yes, modulating a Turbo would/could be difficult. And an F1 car I'd consider a "high horesepower engine"

But, when talking in an application that is Street Legal, I'd stick with MY original thoughts, re: auto-x'ing, as the original article is asking.

my $0.02 8-)

Default Isn't it all about speed and handling? Obviously comparing two

different power plants of which each has their individual idiosyncrasies upon which different driving techniques are demanded its no surprise to conclude that the turbo equiped vehicle will prevail on track applications over a normally aspirated engine .But then again what do I know, the Boys in Formula 1 are probably smokin crack as well.....lol(they banned the Turbo's to give the normally aspirated engine teams a fair chance in competition)
