Diverter Valve Problem

Diverter Valve Problem
Within a day of purchase of my new 2001 A4 1.8TQS Tip, the moan/groan sound reported on this forum developed in my car. The car was at the dealer the next day and the service staff informed me that the diverter valve was indeed the problem. Unfortunately, the part is on back order and it will be about a month before the replacement part is available. I am curious as to the likelihood of any long term damage to the turbo or other engine component from continued driving with the defective part until the replacement part is installed. The service department says not to worry, but...

Re: Diverter Valve Problem
Dealer told me not worry as well. I just got word today that mine was in. I have kept driving mine to minimum but have put about 30 miles every other day or so on it for the last month. I ask the dealer what the exact name of the part was and he said "recirculator valve" for the turbo. DO YOU THINK IT IS THE SAME THING? When they started tinkering with mine to fix the moan/groan they also did something to cause me to loose some power. It was quite noticable when I first got it back so I was down there again the next day. Anyway this is supposed to fix both problems but we will see.
