I love the rear fog light too, for the same purpose.

Default No offense taken; The brakes on the Xterra are most excellent! :-)

I agree... you need to consider car/driver behind you. If it's a '69 Impala don't get into the ABS!

Default what you said is the terrifying truth! But I must agree with Peter, the rear fog is a great tool!

Especially when the tailgater is boxed in! It happened to us on the way home this evening. Some little ricer civic(ironically with blue bulbs) obviously didn't learn that tailgating at about two feet at 85MPH isn't a good idea... we were in the far left lane on the freeway with a van on the right side of him and after about three minutes of him behind us i got damn tired and hit the rear fog... he thought he could retaliate with his blue-ish yellowish greenish high beams but "thank you convenience pkg!" the great auto dimming mirrors took care of his futile attempt! Then the van pulled away and he tried to pass... Another failed atempt! I can't believe a stock 1.8TQMSX with three people in it could still keep up with a farting civic(well, actually I can!). Now I'm just waiting for my euro sport 1.8T badge to come in, then every ricer will wanna race!

Default hmmm...

Well, if someone is tailgating me, I just slow down and then next thing I know the idiot is off changing lanes. Then I just speed back up to my previous speed.

Except this morning when some jerk was talking on the phone in his Navigator. He was way back when I changed lanes (into the far left) and decided to speed up and tailgate. I was going at least 75-80 when the Navigator caught up. There were two other cars in front of me so I couldn't go faster. I slowed down but it didn't work and flashing the brake lights didn't work either. So I just tried to get out of the way. Took a while but I finally did. Then the idiot cut across 4 lanes of traffic to take a different freeway. I mean, he just wanted to tailgate me just to **** me off it seems. If he had his head any deeper up his ***, he'd have missed his transition.

Then there was the idiot in the BMW that was tailgating me then changed lanes. I changed lanes to "follow" for a bit til we got to the freeway. But on the way, he got a little too close to the curb and rubbed his tires against it. I was about 4 car lengths behind (going about 35mph). I think he either damaged the rim or punctured the sidewall cause he pulled into a gas station and I just looked and laughed as I drove past.

Those are the people that I report to the Air Quality Bureau as a smoking vehicle. It's wonderful revenge and they have no clue who did it to them. Because by the time they get the notice they will have forgotten what day and whatnot. You get what you deserve if you tailgate.

Default My wife's Pathfinder brakes ain't so impressive.

I drive her car very gingerly for fear of taking out myself and/or another driver. I've gotten very used to A4 brakes, which are pretty strong for OEM's on a sedan (IMHO anyways). I'm planning on upgrading the brakes in the future. Although it would be fun to have brakes that would pop your eyeballs onto the dash, I'm a bit worried that it would cause other drivers to crunch my trunk if I'm not careful.

install a second rear fog light, keeps tailgaters back, espically in foul weather.
