Default Do Audis require special equipment to change tires?

Someone told me that my Audi A4 1.8 TQ with sports suspension (Dunlop SP8000E tires) require special equipment to prevent damage to the rims?

Is this true or can I go to any tire warehouse to change my tires?

Default You can go anyplace...

however more tire shops employee untrained monkeys. As such, they also tend to scratch your wheels to hell when changing tires. The best thing you can do is express your concern about the tire installation process adding scratches to your wheels, and ask the manager if it can be done without said scratches. If they say yes, go for it. If they say no, take your business elsewhere.

Mostly what this approach does is emphasize to the manager that you want the job done with care...and if it's not, you'll expect them to make things right.

Default They also will crush your pinch welds

Most run of the mill shops and their stupid low intelligence workers don't pay attention to pinch welds and just lift the car up on the weld with a flat plate. So make sure you tell them where the appropriate flat lifting points are, or make sure they use a pinch weld adaptor.

Can I ask what a pinch weld is and where they are located on my 1999 Audi A4 1.8TQ?

Default No....the last time i can remember.....Volvo 240 Turbos had "special" 15' rims

that required the rim to be upside down in order to mount the tire.....

Default Any modern machine can mount a tireupside down, it just requires more care

So you don't F-up the face of the rim.
