Default Rear wheel HP........The auto industry advertise it at the fly wheel or some at the crank

Lately i have been reading about the new SAE HP ratings. Thats gonna cause some confusion for sure.

Default now that you mention this. someone explain me the differences between hp, bhp, whp, ps and all the

other crap that sellers use.
no i didnt search and dont like it either yet

whp is wheel horsepower at the wheel.

bhp?

in germany we use PS which stands for pferde staerken which in terms means HP horse power but there is probably some weird difference as well.

i printed out a metric to us conversion table out and noticed that the us gallons and british gallons are different.. man why dont people use metric? it is SO easy

Default well

bhp: The measure of an engine's horsepower without the loss in power caused by the gearbox, wheels, water pump etc. IIRC it used to be measured on an actual device called a prony brake, hence the term brake horsepower

whp: is the measure of the engines horsepower at the wheels after the rest of it is lost in the drivetrain etc.

hp: is just the shorthand version of either one of those.
