Do I have an exhaust leak?
A noise that sounds sort of like a boat engine is coming from around the cat and when ever I rev the engine past about 5,000 black smoke comes out from there too. Is this an exhaust leak and is it safe to drive the car until I get it fixed? Thanks.

what does a boat engine sound like? (m)
black smoke indicates you are running rich. noise could be uncombusted fuel burning in the exhaust system. cat may be plugged too. is your check engine light on?
