Heater core pipe is split by the firewall(behind the engine) - and dripping a little.
Anybody have write-up?
how-to for dash removal?

Car A4 99.5 2.8 V6 30V Quattro
Thanks

Can't you fix the pipe?

That's a nightmare of a job.

It’s a lot of work...ouch

Is the new heater core pipes also made from plastic? Like the old one? Why they don’t use metal for the pipes like the heater in my old camaro... plastic is so brittle after 10years.
I have problem with Driver side pipe - if I force it with my nail small pieces failing apart, plus it has split in the middle of the pipe – split almost to the firewall. I was able to stretch hose to the firewall to cover this split and used 2 clamps. I’ll test it today.

About ten hours work, I replaced the AC core on my A4 (which is in the same box) about 6 years ago.

If you sit in the driver seat everything that you can see must be removed.

Steering wheel and column, center console airbags, dash.

Buy or borrow a Bentley manual allow a couple of days.

Ben2 claims you do not have to remove the dash or the consold to do this. I'm still trying to figure it out myself. My heater core is leaking like the Titanic.

It is not possible in a US car, don't know about RHD cars from other parts of the world.

I'm very close to removing the heater core with the console and dash in place. Just trying to find the two screws holding the box in place.

Do you know where the two screws that hold the heater box is located? Thanks, that's all that's holding mine in place.
