Default Your A4 is a 99.5 with folding key; however,

my 97 has one remote switch and a seperate key. Because my car doesn't have folding key, that's why I don't have immbolizer and ignition cut-off switch.
That's what my salesperson told me last week before he went to work for Mercedes Canada.
I will call Audi of America/Canada to confirm it later on the date.
I will also try my girlfriend's 98.5 A4 with folding key when I reached home after school in the next 2 hours.

Default Correct, we don't...

The system he is talking about has an extra chip in the key that the car checks when the ignition is turned on. What your dealer is talking about is the remote locks, which also use a rolling code. The difference is this transmitter only works when you push the button, there is no automatic security check when you use the ignition.

Default That's correct Dave......

I screwed up....I should have said every time your start the car, not unlock it.

Thanks for the correction. I believe that the archives or FAQ section has a picture of the little coil/chip in the key. My keys have the chip but no Euro-spec "Immobilizer" in the car! Maybe net generation US will have them.

Default Thanks for the clarification. . . I guess. . .

Hey Everyone,

I guess I have an immobilizer in the terms of my Insurance Company, but not an "immobilizer" as Audi would define it. Electronically codes and transponder technology are all extra layers of protection for an immobilizer system for my insurance company. All that the system has to do to qualify is to be able to arm passively, which I know the A4 does. If I hit the unlock and don't open a door, it will automatically relock itself. That counts right? Seems to work the exact same way my sister's Golf IV does, and she qualifies.

I'll call my insurance agent.
