Im thinking of getting the scorpion exhaust but I would like to see the DTM tips on an A4 before I order one. Does anyone know what the DTM stands for and is there an advantage of having those tips except for cosmetics? Are there any drawbacks? Edster,
DTM stands for (all German readers, please forgive the incorrect spelling) Deutche Touren Meister...German Touring Championship. All of the cars had exhausts that had a tip that was curved up.
I have a Scorpion exhuast. When I ordered it, TAP had a picture of one with straight tips. That was all they were selling. When I got my system, it had DTM tips. Apparently, Scorpion only makes the DTM tips now. I don't have a picture of the DTM tips because I forgot to snap one BEFORE I had them cut. They stick out too much, they are flush with the bumper, the painted part, not the black trim! So, if you whack something with your rear bumper, your $900 exhaust goes with it!
I personally do not like DTM tips. Like my mechanic said, "...they look like something an 18 year old would put on a Civic..." Best thing, call TAP and request that they put up a photo of the new tips on their web site.
BTW, the Scorpion exhaust sounds awesome!
Marcin R.
---
'98.5 A4 1.8Tqms
