Default Does anyone have their Cell phones mounted to the dash?

I'm looking to mount a cradle of some sort and hardwire a charging mechanism because I HATE having stuff popping out of my cigarette lighter.

Just looking to see if anyone has/had any good ideas.

If needed I have a motorola E815.

Default i don't but I guess it can't be much different than hard wiring a radar detector

Default I have one of those universal cradles velcro'd to one of the blank buttons above my radio

that I keep my ipod on. I have its charger / output running under the button and behind the dash to an extra cig lighter that could be bought at radioshack for $5... no cutting, splicing or wire rigging.

This sounds like what I'm looking for. Any pics? Where did you splice hot wire?

Default mounted directly to my ear.

No, really... you can get power from the RJ45 jack in the armrest, just split open your Moto car charger and wire it to that. Instant power source with no wires, tidys up in your armrest. Thats what I did-- I don't like cradles, cause I HATE speakerphone.

Default This was my original idea, but I got a bluetooth headset that I love, and the dash mount would ...

let me see who is calling. I'd also like to make sure when I use voice recognition I know it's calling the right person. So I'd like the screen in view preferably.

Default well, this is where my ipod was...

I cut a block of wood to fit in that hole next to the e-brake and wrapped it with the fuzzy part of velcro purchased in a roll at staples. I put some of the other part of the velcro on the mount and stuck the ipod there.
I wired the cig adapter to my aftermarket radios trigger switch so it turns on my XM and ipod when the radio is on.
I only had to remove the shifter surround and ashtray to run the wires; I used one of those parts grabber things to fish the wires to where the new accessory adapter is located behind the dash / console near the heater blower.
just remove the knee bolster and pick a fuse or source to wire it into.
No permanent damage to the car or your charger and all of it can be easily removed. Total cost =<$20

Since then, I relocated the wires for the ipod to come out of one of the blank buttons near the hazard switch. The XM is still mounted pretty poorly where the ashtray was.

Default I have a "vehicle specific mount" from ProFit International...

It was pricey but it looks great and fits my car perfectly. Installation was easy.

ProFit
