Default Does anyone know how to adjust the dampening (firmness) on the rear FK coilovers?

I was installing my coilovers last night, and I'm not sure how to adjust the dampening on them. I was told I pretty much have to dis-assemble the shock at the top, to compress it all the way down. is this true? is there an easier way? can I cut the bumpstop off, and then compress it like that?

If not, how do I take it apart?

Default probably has to do with rotating the piston.

that or they arent adjustable. I cant think of any other (non obvious) ways to do it.

Default If it's a koni based shock (and I think it is)

The koni shocks I have seen have a little slot in the shock house, 3/4" below where the bolt goes through the upper part of the shock body when you install it. Inside that little slot should be a little dial, with small divets in it. Drop and allen key in there, and turn the dial...left for less rebound dampending, right for more rebound dampening. This is for the rear Koni shocks.

For the fronts, you have to compress the piston all the way, and turn the piston with an allen key (or something like that).

If it's not a conventional Koni shock, then I have no idea what you'll need to do, because I've never seen the FK's.

Default Depends on the type of Koni unit. My KW's ,which are Konis, require you to remove the dampner

,remove the top mount, depress the piston until you engage the adjuster and turn the piston left or right ( depending on if you want firmer or softer)untill you reach the desired position.

Default You will have told the piston with whatever you think will do the least damage to it,as high up as

possible and use a wrench to unscrew the top mount.

Default what did you use to hold the piston with? I tried rubber vice grip type things, and it spun

I might try to cut the bumpstops though, and see if it will compress enough.
