does anyone know how much 4 qts of oil would look like on the dipstick?

Default does anyone know how much 4 qts of oil would look like on the dipstick?

i think the DAMN DEALER put in 5 quarts of crap oil, and took my 4 quarts of mobil 1 synth. the oil line is way above the top kink!

in a 1.8T? 4qts will be overfilled because it only needs 3.7 qts.

Default i know, but assuming the tech just put in 4 quarts because i brought in 4 quarts

a little over the kink or a lot over the kink?

Default hard to say...

depends if the tech waited for all the oil to drain completely or not. Assuming he did wait quite a while, it should be just a little over the max level on the dipstick.

Also, be sure to check your oil level on a level (!) surface when the engine is cold.

Default Well it cant be too far over the top line

since it is 1 qt from the bottom line to the top line. Most cars run best when they are a half qt low.

Default so from bottom bend in the metal to the top bend, its 1 quart?

do you know if the whole thing is the same scale...ie, if i measured the distance from bottom to top as being one quart, could i use that as a scale for any oil above the line?

how far does the oil extend over the top of the kink on the dipstick?

Default I dont see why not. How far over the line is your oil mark?

Just becarefull because any extra oil will be pushed out the crank case breather and into your intake track.
