Default Unless it's a random orbital, I wouldn't touch it...

NiCad batteries...memory effect, heavy, don't last long.

Spend the money on a Porter Cable 7424. $130 buys you the machine and the velcro backing plate from coastaltool. I've yet to hear of ONE bad experience on these forums in over 3 years, regarding this product! It's just become more and more popular among home detailers.

Default The pad turns in a circular fashion as well as gyrates

(in a random fashion). If you apply too much pressure with the PC, the circular motion ceases, and the pad just gyrates. This prevents you from burning the paint...making the PC truly idiotproof (unless of course you drop it on your car).

Oh, I just remembered...in 3.5 years, I've never seen a PC7424 up for sale on these forums either.

Default Absolutely right.

For more info click link. Griots has great products and explains alot of detailing myths/facts, but prices are kinda high.

Griot's Porter Cable Random Orbital polisher
