Does the intermediate shaft need to be timed?

It does not mention it in the manuel....Im doing a T-Belt on a 1.8T and have done other belts with intermediate shafts that have to be timed...Thx for an info-JP

I know that's how the 2000 guys did it when we had our timing belt g2g. My '01 doesn't have an intermediate shaft, so I couldn't tell ya. Make sure you get a good count of teeth between each mark on the belt.

Well, the belt broke, there is no way to count the teeth... how do i time the shaft if there is no timing marks on it???

If it broke while driving, you're going to need to pull the head off and see if there is any piston or valve damage. That's bad.
