Default I've used Mobil-1 oil filter as well, seemed like top-notch construction to me....

....I also liked the German-made Mann filters purchased from BLAUfergnugen for roughly $5.xx per filter. Clair Parts is another option for the factory filters. I bought a 5-pack of OEM oil filters for my S4 for about $50. 1.8T filters should be even cheaper.

$10 for an oem filter can't be beat. I doubt there's a better deal on Mann or Mahle filters.

Default Mann Filter = $8.10

Find your local European parts store.

Its always good to know where to go when you need something. If you find a good place for parts, become real acquainted w/ them. It works.

Default Doesn't the OEM filter supposedly have some kinda check valve in it or something

I know we've gone over this on the board before...I was pretty sure I remember talk of some anti-drainback features built into the Audi filter. You know anything about this?

James R.

Default Cool...if you change your oil inside the warranty period...cause I think 10k is a bit long

I wonder if they'll give you flak if they find a non OEM filter in there when they pull it. Eg. I'm at 11,000 miles...come 15,000 I'll change my own oil instead of waiting till 20,000 for them to do it...so if I used a non factory filter at that point I wonder if they'll give me flak?

Regards,

James R.
