I am just turning in my 96 A4 and the silver still has snap. I seldom go through car wash facilities, maybe a total of 20 times, and use Carnuba and or Nu Finish and nothing with abrasives. Car was parked outside in NJ for three years.

I did a little research before I bought my silver A4 2.8Q. I was told ( by a close friend who has been a Porsche/Audi Master mechanic for over 20 years) that the new silvers, water based, are less likely to fade than the older silver cars, any make, as silver was one of the worst colors when it came to fade resistance. Note that the apparent fading might be clear coat problems. Keep a nice coat of Carnauba wax (pure wax, no cutter) avoid parking in the sun, it ruins everything including interior and us. Silver is difficult to match is case of damage though. Red is the worst of all in the fade category.
