Default Does a VAG-COM have a code for an exhaust leak and

will an exhaust leak screw with the ECU?

Default Well, it really depends on where the leak is. If you are leaking pre cat, yes, it can and will mess

with the ECU. Most likely though, it's leaking post cat, so I wouldn't worry.

Default

I can hear it up front, ahead of the cat. Almost by the flex pipes.

Default In that case, I would look really closely at the exhaust. The 2 oxygen sensors work in tandem..

to tell the ECU what's going on. IF you have a leak pre cat, the o2 sensor after the cat will not be getting accurate readings, thus your car's ecu is getting false info, and therefore the engine probably runs like poo.

Default Pre-cat leak ...and running like poo.

So if the cat broke at the flange to the turbo (as it commonly does on the 1.8T)....one would expect to be running very rich, yes? Not only did my car run like poo when mine broke but it also guzzled some gas....figured it was running rich.

Default Yessah. The #2 o2 sensor gets much less exhaust flow, plus fresh air when the system is under vacuum

totally screws the ECU up.
