Default This may be a dumb question, but...

...how, exactly, does a flywheel go bad???

Seriously - just wondering.

Cheers,
Mike

Default Most of the people putting aftermarket clutch kits on their cars just have the flywheel

resurface, or lightly sanded down to level the surface. Unless you abuse your car, it shouldn't be "shot". I would ask the shop for more details, and possibly email Juan M or someone else here (get pics if you can). A second opinion may avoid a good deal of unnecessary trouble.

If you need a new flywheel, I would probably stay with stock. Call up www.germanautoparts.com and see if they have one in stock that they can FedEx ($$$) out to your mechanic.

Yes you can try emailing juan, he might have a few extra STOCK OEM flywheels around.

Default Flywheel becomes so hot from a slipping clutch

it gets very warped and causes it to become unbalanced and lot of high spots.

Default Best price I've found is "thepartsbin.com" for a Sachs OEM... $151.46

and as always, free ground shipping to the lower 48 on any order over $50.

The above price is based on the AEB engine code, (YMMV)
