Default Door sag/wind noise

As promised, here are some pics regarding my door.

Here's where the noise comes from. It's obviously got some gap in there.

The chrome trim was my first tip off about it being a bit off.

Here you can see the door gap going down. Maybe 3 credit cars at the top and 4 or 5 at the bottom. "not exact match" meaning the lines for the door bumper from the front do not line up with the lines for the rear, just like the chrome trim.

There's an odd indentation on the front of the passenger door. It's at the door latch level.

I didn't get any hinge pics because I left the damn keys inside, BUT the is no play in the door. I can't wobble it up and down. The paint appears next to perfect. No indication that it was painted or of any damage to the paint.

Suggestions?

Edited to add: The inside door handle for this door (driver's front) has no resistance when pulling. It's completely smooth. Door latches completely, but the handle lacks that "clunk" feeling. The other 3 doors have it. I'm wondering if I need to adjust a linkage inside the door?

Default Try adjusting the door catch on the inside of the opening (b pillar)

There are a couple of screws that allow it to be moved up and down. It may have moved down a bit for some reason.

Default I checked both sides and they have markers for left/right. Will see if I can adjust up/down.

Driver's left/right markers were the same as passenger, but I never thought about up/down.

But even then, I couldn't get the door to lift up at all.

Default The striker plate near the B pillar isn't used to align the door vertically...

If you are going to align the door vertically it will happen at the hinges, and nowhere else. Once that is done, you align the striker plate so it lines up with the latch on the door, and the door closes completely and latches properly.

Basically, the car was in an accident (if it's not already painfully obvious) and whomever reconstructed the car did a crappy job aligning the door. Now it's possible that the frame was bent in such a way that the door frame can NOT be aligned properly, and that could be how you got to where you are. You have to do a little more digging to find out if the hinge installation is adjustable in any way (it might not be, I don't know).

Default I agree with the hinge diagnoses but

I had a sagging door not long after I got the car. It also was getting difficult to close. They had to replace the hinge, get it painted too. Door alignment is very difficult because of the weight and precision required.

Default Heh. No indication that anything has ever been adjusted.

That is, no indication of an accident. None of the factory paint on the bolts has been touched, no obvious movement lines.

Going to take it by a local, reputable body shop and ask them to adjust it for me. I'd rather not, y'know, break it.

When did you lose your V8q?

I dumped mine around $3.50/gal.

Default

Put your jack under the door and "adjust" it.

Default hopefully, if he resorts to that method...

he's smart enough to use a long 2x4 to distribute the pressure...or he'll be back with problem #2

Default Totally common. It sucks but it's true.

I'm of the belief the hinge area bends over time.
