Default dripping dripping

I took off my belly pan to change my oil and noticed some crusty pink stuff on the underside of the belly pan....I looked up and it's crusted underneath the (water pump?)....it was all dry and crusted, and no signs of present leaking...and it wasn't there 3000 miles ago at previous oil change....ideas???????

Default Water pump is leaking.

Leaks don't fix themselves...sometimes the heat from the engine bay will cause the coolant to dry up and crystallize.

If you're driving a 2.8, get it fixed. A siezed water pump could possibly snap your timing belt causing you all kinds of damage and misery. If you have a 1.8T, you can prolong the inevitable (changing the water pump).

Default I'd say a leaking pump. The coolant dries and crusts up pretty fast. I wouldn't let it go too long

although it isn't likely an emminent disaster.
