Default Driver seat shifting

At times my driver's seat shifts, mainly right when the car stops, sometimes on acceleration. It shifts what seems to be maybe about an inch. It feels as if the mechanism for the power seat isn't as secure as it should be. My service rep says that no seat can be 100% secure but I have never felt a seat move this much, or any real perceivable amount. They took the seat out and checked the bolts in the floor, but I don't think that was the problem. As I said I think it is with the power mechanism. Sometimes adjusting the position helps, I was maybe thinking that having the seat all the way down may cause some insecurity, adjusting has given some temporary relief, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I searched to see if there were other threads on this and didn't find any. If there were please point me in their direction.

Default HA! try the manual seats us peon 1.8 owners have. Mine's a frigging rocking chair.

Audi's no help, so some day I'll open it up to REALLY solve the problem myself. I got it narrowed down to the front slide holddown pin and rail....

I've had absolutely no problems. Can't relate.

Default Mine shifts, too . . .

Took my '01 2.8 to the dealer to investigate. They found no "defects" in the seats and allowed me to sit in several new A4's (seats still wrapped in plastic) to see that the same amount of play was present in their seats.

The tech could not offer an explanation of why the seats would be designed this way. I have seen other posts here that suggest the "problem" is present in other makes and models as well.

That's just the way they are, I guess.

Default Same problem with a number of S4s...

"within spec" is the response some have gotten when discussing it with service dept.

Same response from my service rep. Within specs. It bugs the heck out of me and one of these days I will tear the thing apart and engineer a fix. Then I'll sell my kit to AoA......after I let you guys know how to fix it.

Default 1" !!!!!

my 1.8T seats (manual) started to shift slightly on sharp corners about 1 year ago. It was there for a few months, and then vanished. Rock solid now.

Now if it shifts 1"!!!! That's a lot and clearly not right. I would say mine shifted about 1mm.

Part of the quirkiness of Audi/VW that makes them so cute. Yeah right.
