just went out to my car for a second(still at work) and unlocked the door, but it won't open from the outside, all other doors are fine. had to go in through another door and open it from the inside. it opened just fine from the inside.

this happen to anyone else? how much of a PITA is it to fix? i assume the door latch is all mechanical and something just came disconnected??? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Then just look and see if anything is unhooked. I did the Auto up mod in 30 min, and 20 min of that was me trying to force a piece in backwards (I am AWB5's Special little boy) So Pita Level? a possible 1 or 2 (if it is just something knocked lose.)

It was very very cold outside. I unlocked my doors with the remote and the driver door wouldn't open. I then locked and unlocked the door with the key and it has worked fine since.

Once you get the inner door panel removed (see here for instructions: https://www.audiworld.com/tech/int49.shtml) look at the handle mechanism in the upper rear corner of the door behind the lock button rod.

Work the outside handle and you will probably see that the pin that locks the handle to the door latch mechanism has fallen out or broken.

This is what happened to me. You can buy a door repair kit from Impex or any other OEM parts distributor for around $10. The part # for the repair kit is 4B0 898 105.
