I have this problem. Originally I had something loose inside the seat itself (brand new from the factory) I was told that the seat frame was busted (I only weigh 170) and they replaced the seat frame and rails.
now, 7 months later, the seat is doing what you describe, it seems to float around on bumps.
I am going to tell them to fix it right this time and see what happens.

I complained about it just before my car went out of warranty, and got the dreaded "it's within spec" response. They did somethingthough, because it didn't move for a couple of weeks after that. I've now been another 50K miles, and the good news is it doesn't seem to get any worse.
A few people have had bushing replaced (don't know exactly where the bushings go) or had the seat rails replaced. Don't know if anyone has been successful in completely eliminating the problem. Perhaps it's time for a poll (anyone with over 30K miles who's seat isn't loose?).
