Default Drivers side axle flange leaking at seal... is it possible to replace this seal without

releasing the upper control arms & TRE from the steering knuckle?
Can I do by just turning the steering wheel? And will I still need to remove axle bolt?

Couldn't find a write-up... thanks!

Paging Pentosinjunky... I read somewhere this is something you did without arm removal?

Default That's good to hear! I am not anticipating unbolting suspension components.

Just push the axle flange up and forward and the side towards
the wheel gets pushed down and towards the back of the car correct?

Also... What did you use for a seal puller? Slide hammer?
Screwdriver? Small hand-held seal puller? Thanks!

Default Yea, I just unbolted the cv at the trans flange and worked the axle off the flange

and towards the rear of the car. It just found a place to fit while i worked on the flange. I used a flathead screw driver and needlenose pliers to bend and pull the seal. I then used an empty aluminum dog food can that i found in the recycle bin to push/tap the new seal in place.

Be careful to not scour or gouge the flange housing when pulling the old seal out.

Also, make sure there is enough clearance on the driver side for this to work. While it might work on the passeneger side, the driver side might not have enough room to pull the axle off the flange.

Default Excellent. Thank you for those tips.

I guess there's only one way to find out if this will work
for my situation... wish me luck!
