Default Driving snow tires in the summer?

I don't know much about tires. Why is it a bad idea to drive winter tires in the summer?!

Lookin to replace my two rear P6000 tires. Saw a good deal on the classifieds
Thoughts please. Thanks

Default Well, winter tires generally are made of very soft compound...

so they will wear much faster on hot roads, from aggressive driving, etc...

Winters will also, naturally, have fairly horrific grip compared to a summer or all season tire;

Finally, winters will be fairly unstable at high speeds.

Overall, not a good way to save on tires. Get an inexpensive all season like a Pirelli P7000SS, which i had once, and liked alot.

Cheers,
Sameer

Default Bad idea to mix and match tires like that.

Esp. tires at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to their intended purposes. In an emergency lane change you may find out the hard way that the front of the car handles VERY differently from the back end. This will happen on wet or dry pavement. The tires are, afterall, the only thing that connects you to the road.

If you HAVE to skimp, at least get a tire in the same category as the one's you're keeping on the car (all season, touring, high perf., etc.).
