Dumb question? What is DBW?

I think it stands for Drive-By-Wire. And it changed in the A4 sometime. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

Drive-By-Wire...some sort of telegram messaging system hidden in the Symphony head units..

Electronic throttle...started in MY2000 A4's.

instead of a cable on the gas pedal, the throttle positions

go into a computer and the computer chooses the rest...

so in the old days, you could rev the engine while under the hood by pulling on the throttle... no more...

soon-brake by wire!

(2000+ a4's are dbw)
